Let’s be honest. When you hear the word, Finance, for a lot of us, this isn’t going to be the most exciting conversation. No one likes to talk about money & budgets because at the end of the day we’ve been brought up to think it’s taboo. But this is something we all have to think about, as we need money for pretty much everything. What is it about personal finance that is so intimidating? We all have bills to pay and we all want to work towards those big-ticket purchases in life. I’m excited to share with you that Canela & I will be a part of MOGO’s newest campaign coming very soon (best. photoshoot. ever.) Leading up to the big reveal, I wanted to take some time to get personal about personal finance with MOGO and I’m excited to share my experience with you.
So, first thing’s first, WHO is MOGO?
I’ll start off by sharing something pretty personal about myself. I wish that there had been something like MOGO around when I was younger. I, unfortunately, fell into a credit nightmare in my youth that I wasn’t about to dig myself out of. If only I had access to a website such as TeachMePersonalFinance.com back then, I surely wouldn’t have made such a mess of my personal finances. After YEARS of toiling, I was able to get to a place where I finally started to build my credit back up and was able to pay off debt that had hurt my credit score, but the stress took its toll on me. I was aware of the benefits of having good credit and so knew that I had to act if I wanted to be in a strong financial position again. Nowadays with MOGO being a financial tech company that’s transforming the way Canadians access their money & control credit, they are ultimately helping Canadians get out of debt in a customized way that suits our individual needs.
So what is the MOGO experience all about? It’s actually pretty simple. First of all you head to MOGO.ca and ‘Click’ Sign Me Up. The good part of this is that I am under no obligation to accept anything during the application process. I never once felt stressed or pressured during the process, which was really refreshing!
I think one of the most engaging parts of the MOGO brand is that it appeals to people my age – those of us who are really feeling the affects of trying to live a healthy personal finance life, but who may need a bit of help.
You’ll notice that the website and social media accounts are vibrant and playful. Personal finance doesn’t have to be boring and scary anymore! It’s one of the reasons why when they asked to me collaborate for the new campaign, it felt right. Plus everyone else they used is MUCH younger than me, so that was nice too! #YoungAtHeart
So after I filled out a few easy questions about me, including my income and address, I ‘Clicked’ Check My Rate. There were a few security questions which of course helped to reassure me that this was a safe process – at the end of the day, you can’t be too careful. And literally, just like that, I was shown was MOGO products I was pre-approved for.
With the ability to stop here if I wanted or continue with the process, I like that there is no pressure to accept something I am not ready for. The application process also helped me to realize that the MOGO experience is customized to me and my credit score. The whole experience, which only took a few minutes of my time, was great and I can’t wait to see when the new mobile app launches with the Mogocard!
At the end of the day, as I save and work towards buying a house with Julio and growing our family, improving my score is something that I can always use. After choosing which product best suited my needs, I clicked submit. I had to make a quick phone call to the 1-800 number and voila, the process was finished!
At the end of the day, as I save and work towards buying a house with Julio and growing our family, improving my score is something that I can always use.
The availability of MOGO to help Canadians build & repair their credit score is one of the many reasons why I am now a happy MOGO customer. To learn more about the program and use their engaging website make sure to head to www.MOGO.ca
Don’t forget to keep your eyes peeled for Canela & I coming to MOGO social media accounts soon by following @mogomoney on Twitter and Instagram. Take control of your finances and share your experiences with us using #FinancesWithBenefits. We can’t wait to see what you think!
