A Celebrity-Filled Charity Gala to Remember

It was a pretty big night in Vancouver on October 20th, let me tell you. Stars from all over the globe came together to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the David Foster Foundation, presented by Parq Vancouver, the JW Marriott Parq Vancouver and The DOUGLAS. And guess what? We got to be there to live it up with them! Yes, I was in the same room as Oprah. Yes, The Oprah.

The David Foster Foundation is a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to providing financial support for non-medical expenses to Canadian families with children in need of life-saving organ transplants. In the past 30 years, the David Foster Foundation has assisted over 1,000 families with children in need of major organ transplants and provided much-needed dollars in direct family support. In 2006, the Foundation became a national organization, expanding to help families across Canada.”

David Foster and his many celebrity friends, joined forces to raise awareness and support for Canadian families with children in need of life-saving organ transplants. It all started the night before at the Founders Dinner, where we were lucky enough to attend as special guests alongside the Marriott International team. As they were the lead sponsors, it was hosted in the ballroom of the brand new JW Marriott Parq Vancouver. The space has just opened and is fully-equipped to host all of the best events Vancouver has to offer!

Throughout the evening, we stuffed our faces with delicious food, while David Foster entertained us with stories of how he started, the process behind some of his music and of his many inspirations along the way.  I mean, the man has 16 Grammys, for goodness sakes. Some of the performers of the night included Ruben Studdard, Pia Toscano, Jordan McGraw and Reba McEntire… to name a few!

The next night, we prepared ourselves for the main event! As we were all staying in the JW Marriott Parq Vancouver or at The Douglas next door, we decided to meet for some dinner in one of their signature restaurants, Honey Salt. The food was incredible, as we shared it all family-style. Each course comprised of locally-sourced food, with an emphasis on farm-to-table. The company was likely the best part as I got to know some truly wonderful people before we all headed over to the concert together afterwards.

The evening continued with the David Foster Foundation 30th Anniversary 2017 Vancouver Miracle Gala and Concert held at Rogers Arena. Hosted by the talented David Foster himself, the night was filled with inspirational stories, riveting performances and a constant flow of people coming forward to generously donate copious amounts of money towards the cause.

Some of the special guests and performers included: Oprah Winfrey, Dr. Phil McGraw, Jay Leno, Bo Derek, Carly Rae Jepsen, The Tenors, Matteo Bocelli, Jim Treliving, Cee-lo, Melissa Peterman, Reba, Rick Hansen, Andre Agassi, Brian & Mila Mulroney and so many more! But, the best parts of the evening, were Steven Tyler closing out the show with a few songs, as he had everyone on their feet and really brought the whole house down, and then the announcement of how much was raised throughout the evening… 10.2 freakin’ million dollars! It was such an honour to be there.
