What We’re Wearing For The 2018 Winter Olympic Games

Listen. I’m so excited for the Winter Olympic Games in PyeongChang, South Korea, starting on February 9, 2018. So, don’t you be calling me, emailing me or ringin’ my doorbell until after February 25th cause my response will be “I’m busy!”. Or, as they say in Korean “gabeo lida!”

The preparations for my binge-watch are underway: I hung my Canadian flag behind the tv, laid out my Hudson’s Bay blankets on the couch and, of course, ordered my outer and inner wear from HBC to match the Team Canada athletes. Still to do: bake maple leaf cookies and display my “Olympic” medal on the coffee table. Ok, it’s really just a “Participant” ribbon I won in 5th grade for snowshoeing. But it’s a winter sport, so don’t judge me

Every Winter Olympic Games, I’m enthralled during the Opening Ceremonies when the Canadian athletes walk out in their HBC Team Canada outfits, all proud in red and black and white. The athletes will be cozy and stylin’ in their parkas, mitts, softshell jackets and toques, while my pup Canela will join in the excitement in her Team Canada Pet Sweater.

This year, HBC has entered into special collaborations with Canadian brands Drake General Store, Peace Collective and Herschel. They have created an extensive Team Canada Collection from t-shirts to jammies to onsies (for little fans) to flannel shirts to socks and so much more!  The over 150 items can be ordered on-line or found in HBC stores around the country. My personal favourites are the men’s Podium Parka and the Opening Ceremony Parka, because frankly, I like to stay warm, but also look good.

During the XXIII Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang, the Canadian team, led by flag bearer and hockey player Hayley Wickenheiser, will participate in up to 102 events against Olympians from 87 other nations.  Btw, Canada always does well at the Winter Olympics cause we are hearty people who have mastered both snow and ice!

Now, back to the fashion. I look good in red. ‘Nuff said. It goes without saying that I love shopping at HBC for clothes and housewares and so much more, and adding points to my HBC card is always a bonus. However, the 2018 Team Canada collection is really something special and I’m so proud of the Canadian designers and our amazing athletes. You should know that since becoming the Official Outfitter of the Canadian Olympic Team, HBC has donated more than $35 million with the help of associates and customers to support athletes through the Canadian Olympic Foundation and other national sport organizations and initiatives.

Though I don’t expect to win a medal myself, I plan to be an all-star fan and supporter, glued to the games with my Canadian pride and spirit, in my chic HBC Team Canada apparel.  Although I’m a polite Canadian, I plan to scream and cheer at the television if I can’t be in Pyeongchang.
