While many Canadians are kicking off 2023 with being back in the office and trying to keep up with resolutions, we’ve all just gotten a gift we didn’t know we needed in our lives. At least that’s how I’m feeling now that news has broken that iconic Canadian retailer Zellers is coming back and not just in one location, but across the country! So in anticipation of walking through the doors and hopefully giving Zeddy a big hug to welcome them back, I thought I’d share my #Zellers memories and what I am most excited for.
Known famously for their “Where the lowest price is the law.” slogan, Zellers is one of those Canadian brands that holds not only a sense of nostalgia and comfort, but for many friends I’ve spoken to, happy memories with friends and family. I remember shopping with my Mom in the aisles that often were decorated in grey and red for household items and often back to school clothes and necessities.
On a fixed income when we were younger, Zellers was a store my parents could afford long before it became this emblem of a long gone Canadiana retail era. The reignition of the brand has most people my age and in and around excited – and there’s no shock why. In a time where life has never been more expensive or uncertain in so many ways, the comfort of a brand that we have known and grown up with is nothing short of soothing.
The beloved Canadian brand is thrilled to announce the planned locations for its first 25 Zellers store experiences within Hudson’s Bay. Opening in communities across the country, the brick-and-mortar locations will complement the first-ever Zellers.ca ecommerce site, ultimately bringing Zellers to nearly every community in Canada.
Customers will be greeted with a thoughtful selection of design-led products across home decor, toys, baby, apparel and pets, housed within Zellers’ signature red and white that will guide customers along in their retail journey. I wonder if an adult size of the iconic ride (above) will be available somewhere. If not, please take this as official notice that I will be riding it uncomfortably as soon as I find this machine!
At launch, the Zellers experience within Hudson’s Bay will be between 8,000 – 10,000 sq ft., depending on

You have seen for years both via myself and my fashion icon husband that Hudson’s Bay is an important brand in the Canadian landscape. From the recent Hudson’s Bay point blanket promise to give back to Indigenous communities who have nothing short of a loaded and painful history with the item, to this most recent promise to rekindle for Canadians a brand we have loved and missed for over a decade, it seems as though HBC is truly ctoommitting themselves to make Canada a better and stronger together.
