A Step in The Right Direction

I’m in a really good place right now. We’ve settled into the new office and are hosting meetings, planning sessions, and continuously building the content we are bringing to you all. I think you could say that the health of our business is thriving. Similarly, Julio and I have officially moved into our new home and are settling into the next chapter of our life. The second bedroom is set to become an office, and eventually a nursery.

Working on our home has definitely been a priority recently. With this in mind, we have also been on the lookout for a new home insurance policy. There are lots of things to think about when moving into a new home, but taking out insurance absolutely needs to come first. Taking out home insurance can protect your property and belongings from the unexpected. If you are thinking of taking out your first home insurance policy, or are looking to renew your existing coverage, simply insurance represents some of the best home insurance companies. Head to simplyinsurance.com to compare some of your options.

Ultimately, the health of our marriage is also on track for big things to come.

Feeling as though the above is an emotional and physical checklist, I thought it would be important to also touch on my personal health and where I am headed this year. Thankfully I have the tools I need to take steps in the right direction and be rewarded for doing just that.

Have you ever noticed that your physical health directly affects your mental health? I mean, Catherine could go into detail as to why that happens chemically, but I more so want to talk about why it’s nice to feel rewarded for making better decisions.

Recently I was introduced to Carrot Rewards, a wellness community which educates and rewards consumers for making better, healthier lifestyle choices and which recently won Canadian App of the Year and was intrigued. Goodness knows I wasn’t looking to download another app (do you also like to purge the ones that you don’t use? SO satisfying) but after taking the time to research what it was all about, I can assure you it’s worth it. I find myself getting into a habit of checking the app along with our social media accounts every day!

We all have step trackers and healthy living tips we can turn to. But what if you could actually be rewarded for making healthy choices? The fact is, Carrot educates & rewards consumers for making better, healthier choices for themselves, for their families and for the planet. Canadians using the Carrot app have increased their daily physical activity by more than 20% and are much more aware of the importance of saving, budgeting, healthy living, energy conservation and much more. Don’t we all need a little bit of encouragement sometimes? I know that I do!

“Carrot harnesses the power of the most popular consumer loyalty programs in Canada to challenge Canadians to learn and to be more physically active. The Carrot users earn their choice of; Aeroplan® Miles, More Rewards® Points, SCENE® Points, Petro-Points™, and Drop points each time they interact with the app – with reward options expanding soon!. The Carrot platform was created in collaboration with public sector agencies, the three leading Canadian health NGOs and the private sector. With a fast growing and highly engaged membership of nearly two thirds of a million Canadians, Carrot is the most popular and trusted engagement platforms in the country.”

So, let’s talk about the real changes I have been making using the app. I find myself walking a lot more around the office. If you’re like me, you know that sitting at a desk all day can be draining. If I know that I can earn some points from my loyalty programs that I linked to my Carrot Rewards profile, why wouldn’t I take a walk around the block? It’s quite genius if you ask me. It gets me moving while earning points towards things I want in my life.

Even just for downloading the app and linking my Aeroplan card to the app I was able to earn rewards. I also earned points for taking quizzes to learn about healthy living and wellness. It’s a very easy system and the rewards feel like great encouragement that I am taking steps (pardon the pun) in the right direction!

I genuinely encourage you to check out the Carrot Rewards website at www.carrotrewards.ca – you can also click HERE to download the app from iTunes and HERE from Google Play. And it’s free!
