Continuing A Family Tradition

The month of April is underway and with it (albeit slowly) the warmer weather is coming. In just a few short weeks the doors at Canada’s Wonderland will open and the 2019 season will kick off with some exciting new rides and opportunities to make memories with my family. As I have explained, one of my favourite memories growing up was going to RBC Royal Bank Day at the park – the day before the park opens to the public. For my entire childhood, this was our version of a theme park trip because it was one we could afford. It’s why I am so excited that we are official #WonderCrew members and will be sharing more about the park in 2019.

This Year, Let’s Dish

I can’t believe that it’s already March and that the spring is around the corner. As I gear up my wardrobe alongside my new healthy habits (click here to read more about those) I am also doing things that I love for myself again. Be it writing this book and working towards a tight deadline, or taking classes again because I have always loved learning, I am feeling rejuvenated and more like myself than I have in a very long time.

The Present of Presence

My family never really focused too much on gift giving during the holidays. We usually made our way to Nigerian Christmas Parties, visited the homes of our parents’ friends, connected through conversation and dancing to traditional music while stuffing our faces with tons of food. Sometimes our holidays involved going to places around the city such as the theatres or museums where we could learn something new. My parents really focused on family time and in respect to Nigerian culture, getting together and enjoying each other’s company made a world of difference and still does. While I was in the swing of the holidays, I really want the new year to be about creating memories with the people who have a positive energy, places that bring out the best in you through positivity and presence and food.

The Year I Remembered To Take Care Of Myself

By now you’re coming to understand that December is a month that I take the time to look back and be grateful for the lessons the year has taught me. Some of them easier than others, but that’s life sometimes. As I get ready for an amazing 2019 with the #DoTheDaniel team which continues to grow around the world, I am acknowledging that 2018 was the year I remembered to take care of myself again.
