Despite the cold weather that has settled on Toronto, it seems as though the city is heating up with Chinese New Year festivities. Our friends at Shangri-La Hotel Toronto have something very special in store for us all starting on February 19th. Come & see why this is the place to be to celebrate a new year in a momentous way.
“The Lion Dance has been a traditional part of Chinese culture for many centuries and will kick off the hotel’s Chinese New Year celebrations on 19 February 2015. Starting at 2:00 p.m., the Chinese Kung Fu Institute of Canada Ltd. dance troupe will perform a traditional Lion Dance and eye dotting ceremony in the Lounge Lounge. Guests will see the lion dancers demonstrate their agility and skill, moving energetically with the lion’s head and body to the beat of big drums and the clashing of cymbals.”
“Adding to the festivities at the conclusion of the Lion Dance at 3:00 p.m., guests can stay in Lobby Lounge for live performances by fifteen year old violinist Jasmine Lin accompanied by faculty member Jeanie Chung and fourteen year old pianist Coco Ma from the Phil and Eli Taylor Performance Academy for Young Artists at the Royal Conservatory of Music. While enjoying the classical music, guests can experience the debut of the special Chinese New Year High Tea. Available from 19 February 2015 to 1 March 2015, guests can enjoy a Chinese New Year inspired menu.”
The Chinese New Year High Tea is priced at CAD$42 per person or CAD$25 per child and is served daily from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the Lobby Lounge beginning 19 February 2015 to 1 March 2015.
