Food & Wine | Celebrating Halloween with Crystal Head Vodka

When I stop to think about Halloween, some of my best memories asides for the trick or treating years are the parties I attend and the fantastic cocktails that I have created and enjoyed with friends. This year I thought to myself, besides the best way to celebrate Halloween in Toronto, that I would partner with one of my favourite vodka brands to help celebrate the season. Crystal Head Vodka is a product that I keep stocked in my home year round for it’s quality and taste, but it is also the perfect base for your Halloween celebrations and cocktails this season. Come & see why when you are shopping for parties you are attending or hosting this year, how Crystal Head Vodka is the perfect choice for you and your friends.

Many people don’t realize that Crystal Head Vodka is actually a labour of love of Dan Aykroyd. I have written about his wines for years and truly love that he proudly represents Canada on an International scale. Crystal Head Vodka is proudly made in Newfoundland Canada of all places and it is one of the best quality vodkas I have yet to taste.

“Highest quality peaches and cream corn is distilled four times into a neutral grain gluten-free spirit and blended with pristine water from Newfoundland,  Canada. The liquid is then filtered seven times, of which three are through layers of semi precious crystals known as Herkimer diamonds. … Crystal Head contains no additives. No glycerol, citrus oils or sugars. Nothing is added to enhance or mask the taste.”

So why the skull? Asides for being perfect for the Halloween season I personally love to display it in our home. We have a small obsession with skulls thanks to Julio and his tastes in Fashion. The design itself was meant to be a statement just like its contents are. “A symbol of life, reflecting power and enlightenment, to hold their award-winning white spirit of super natural purity.”

This award winning Vodka catches your eye, steals your heart and is the best base for your spooky needs this Halloween, be it as a gift for your gracious host or to keep in stock for friends coming to join you in full garb. So grab your pumpkins, get your costumes out and start pouring the Crystal Head Vodka!

I came up with a DoTheDaniel.com exclusive cocktail recipe that I think is going to be perfect for you and your friends this Halloween:

Sweet & Sour Spooky Punch

1.5 oz Crystal Head Vodka

1.0 oz  Southern Comfort

0.5 Pomegranate Juice

0.5 Jax Coco Coconut Water (flavour is up to you, but I prefer the brand new Kidz Banana for this recipe)

1 Lime, wedged

In a glass (or martini shaker if you have one), add 3-4 ice cubes. Combine Crystal Head Vodka and Southern Comfort. Stir or shake well to allow them to cool. Add Pomegranate juice & Jax Coco Coconut Water (flavour of choice) and stir or shake rigorously. Strain into glass and squeeze fresh lime wedge into the drink before serving.

The flavours of sweet and sour will combine for you and your guests in a playful way that reminds me of candy. It’s like grown up trick or treating on one of my favourite holidays of the year!
