Food & Wine | The best #NBAAllStarTO event you didn’t know was happening

Though Julio is the expert on all things luxury, every now and again I get to tell you about something before he does. While the city of Toronto settles after an incredible weekend of NBA All Star madness, the most luxurious event took place without most people knowing about it. Thankfully, we were invited behind the proverbial velvet rope and can finally share it all with you. Louis XIII hosted an exclusive lounge hidden away at Thompson Toronto for the most elite of guests, and after sipping on this 100 year cognac for the first time, I can assure you that it is the best of the best.

Reminding me of the energy of TIFF, #NBAAllStarTO saw some incredible people gather together for incredible events. What I’ve come to learn about this city, is that the most exclusive events are the ones you never knew happened. Nestled away in the corner of Thompson Toronto, Louis XIII set up a beautiful lounge for NBA stars and celebrities alike. Serving what I can only describe as the best cognac I’ve ever experienced, they offered refuge and luxury to A listers away from the hustle and bustle of the weekend.

Thankfully, we were invited to see the space and promised to keep it secret until now – exclusivity comes a cost and this ultra luxe brand won over our hearts from the very first sip. Our lips were sealed!

White flowers, and crystal glasses, NO cameras and only a photo booth (we’d LOVE to see those photos) greeted celebrities who needed some time to unwind.

Louis XIII is, and has always been, one of the most luxurious brands we’ve encountered. And for good reason.

“Since the end of the 19th century, LOUIS XIII has officially been awarded Purveyor to some highly prestigious Royal and Imperial Courts, such as the Imperial court of Austria-Hungary (1898), the Royal court of Bayern (1903) and the Royal court of Sweden (1956). More recently in the 1980’s, His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales received from Mrs. Martine Heriard Dubreuil herself a decanter of LOUIS XIII at the Guards Polo Club of Windsor Castle.”

Luxury doesn’t come cheap, but rest assured that like all good things, it is well worth the cost. Sipping this cognac for the first time with brand ambassador Olivia Tran, I was reminded of romance. They say you’ll never forget the first sip of Louis XIII, and just like a first kiss, it will be a memory you cherish forever.

For more information on this cognac and why we have fallen head over heels for it, make sure to click here to visit the Louis XIII website. And of course, don’t forget that my birthday is in October – hint hint.
