So January was somehow 311 days and February has been 9 and is almost over. Someone make it make sense! While I have been trying to avoid the morning “Breaking News” cycles the world is now living, I thought we all could use something to make us smile. So… I said to you the following words, what comes to mind?
“Fighting evil by moonlight, winning love by daylight.”
Listen, whether you were a fan of not, you have to admit that Sailor Moon was a shared cultural experience, and that its theme song is one that many of us recognize to this day. Not only did it have a huge influence in Canada for those of us old enough to remember when it first hit our airwaves, but has to this day maintained a global influence to the level of Transformers, Pokémon, and other brands of that scale.
For myself, it brings me back simultaneously to high school when I was at a point where I was discovering who I really was, and also sharing moments watching the Japanese episodes subtitled with a super fan and enjoying how much they enjoyed it. I’m smiling as I think about those moments and I will always cherish them. If you are a fan but have never watched the subtitled original episodes with Usagi Tsukino and her antics, I encourage you to do so.
That’s why when the press release for the upcoming Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon: The Super Live and its upcoming 2025 North American tour, I thought we could all use some brevity from life lately to remember Sailor Moon, and the joy it brought to so many of us.
