Having recently sat down for a moment to pause, I realize that we are mid way through March and the year seems to be flying by. While Julio & I are working towards have children and accomplishing some pretty incredible things in our professional lives, I sometimes feel as though we may forget to be romantic.
One of us more than the other of course… ? But without pointing fingers, I think the point is one that a lot of us can identify with. So in light of understanding we can’t always jet away to a tropical destination around the globe, I’ve found a romantic getaway right here in the heart of Toronto that is like no other. And it’s right here in your your own backyard.
When I started on the hunt for out of the ordinary romantic ideas in Toronto of course it lead me to neighbourhoods I am very familiar with. From Ossington to West Queen West, all the way up to Yorkville, as a Torontonian I think I sometimes forget the amazing places and things to do right here in my own city. Recently renovated on the main strip of Bloor Street, The InterContinental Toronto Yorkville quickly caught my eye.
Over the years I’ve had the pleasure of staying of other InterContinental properties, the renovation and one-of-a-kind dining experiences are what really caught my eye. As someone who travels a lot for work, I want to stay at a hotel that understands who I am.
I will usually always need a bath because mine at home is small and there is nothing more relaxing than soaking in a tub. I will always want or hope for a view of the city I am in so that I can look out and be inspired when I am in the room. I will usually book a hotel with a great dining experience available or something that I wouldn’t be able to have anywhere else. And of course, somewhere that listens when I say I am planning a romantic getaway that will add special touches to the experience for me and my beautiful husband.
So this weekend, I am happy to say, that is exactly what I have found for Julio and I. Just steps away from luxurious shopping for him (I need to make note since someone’s birthday is around the corner), to the ROM nearby for an inspired afternoon, I cannot wait to revisit The InterContinental Toronto Yorkville for a romantic night away.
From the special touches I’ll ensure are made to make Julio feel special, to the quiet moments cuddled up in our robes, I cannot wait to unwind.
But of course, the food. OMG I cannot wait for the food.

I think the most important part of all of these experiences coming up is the fact that we don’t need to leave the city in order to escape for some intimacy and indulgence. I want to laugh in the pool with my husband, sip bubbles over delicious food, indulge in some room service if we feel fancy and forget about the world. Romance takes small gestures and they can be found right here in Toronto for those of us who live here, or those of you visiting.
