The busiest time of year is about to settle upon the city of Toronto. The Toronto International Film Festival (also commonly referred to as TIFF) is coming, and this year marks its 40th anniversary. To celebrate, it seems like everyone is buzzing with excitement and Shangri-La Hotel, Toronto is no exception. In collaboration with Maison Birks & Montréal based Alvéole, they are happy to announce the Bee Wall installation on the third floor Garden Terrace.
By now you’ve heard or seen something about #SaveTheBees I’m sure. But did you know that this partnership is actually doing something about it?
“The Bee Wall installation addition to the third floor Garden Terrace will not only aid the community by providing plenty of bees to pollinate downtown area gardens and parks; the honey harvested will also provide the culinary team led by Executive Chef Damon Campbell and the pastry team led by Pastry Chef Kate Siegel with local and sustainable honey for use in the hotel’s kitchen and food and beverage outlets.”
Birks is known for their activity in creating awareness & conservation when it comes to honey bees in Canada. Including, but not limited to, “various initiatives such as the introduction of bee themed jewellery collections, a partnership with the Honey Bee Research Centre at the University of Guelph and an urban beekeeping installation surrounded by a suspended green roof at its flagship boutique in Montreal.”
With the upcoming TIFF season, there are so many reasons to visit the hotel and experience all the amazing collaborations they have to offer. Especially the new Bee Wall!
