We are well into the month of November, and I am wondering how are you handling the last stretch of 2018? I for one couldn’t be more excited, as the holidays are the most wonderful time of the year. With everything from visiting friends and family, to giving to the community with my new volunteer positions I have taken on, I look forward to the season and all the wonderful experiences it entails. Recently I had the pleasure of joining Hudson’s Bay, and the third annual holiday window reveal. This unveiling has quickly become one of my favourite events of the year and always puts me in the holiday spirit. Did I also mention I got to meet pop music royalty?
This year, as with every year, I am looking forward to seeing my niece Rebecca. This time it will be extra incredible as I will be surprising her with some amazing FAO Schwarz toys that I know will make her smile. Click on this link to see how the iconic brand coming to Canada for the first time exclusively as Hudson’s Bay really made some of my childhood dreams come true, and how I hope it does the same for her.
I am also looking forward to raising money for Movember going into the colder weather (which I would love you to take a moment to donate to if you can, as we are matching every donation to $5000!) and as always, I look forward to taking part in an entire season of holiday events for DoTheDaniel. This has been such an amazing and transformative year for me personally and professionally, and we have so much to celebrate.
Speaking of events; one of my favourite ways to celebrate is with a visit to the iconic Hudson’s Bay and Saks Fifth Avenue Holiday windows. With lavish trimmings and eye-catching displays, the holidays are not complete without a visit. Established in 1670 as Canada’s oldest Company, Hudson’s Bay has become our most prominent department store. Combined with Saks Fifth Avenue’s esteemed reputation as a preeminent speciality retailer: their window displays are not to be missed.
I was lucky to attend their 3rd annual window unveiling recently and it was exactly what I needed to kick start my enthusiasm for the holidays and everything they mean to me. It was an incredible (and star-studded) evening. With musical performances headlined by Canadian pop singer songwriter and Grammy-Award nominee, multi-platinum selling recording artist Carly Rae Jepsen and an opening with Toronto singer-songwriter and rising pop sensation, Johnny Orlando coupled with good friends and a boisterous crowd, it was a magical way to start the season. Now that the windows are revealed I find myself walking by them every day to put a smile on my face and start making those shopping lists for people I love.
Afterwards we were invited inside to enjoy festive-themed photo moments by FAO Schwarz, a milk and cookie bar, a special appearance by Santa Claus and an opportunity to shop all the new holiday collections! Another incredible event by Hudson’s Bay and Saks Fifth Avenue; we can’t wait for next year! Thank you again to the team at Hudson’s Bay for inviting us to be a part of the magical evening with you. I now need to go pick up one of those scarfs and toques that everyone was wearing to stay warm now that I see how great they look on me – among other items for the holidays.
