As a parent, I’ve always wanted to monitor the things around Lyric. I remember when he was really little, I was cleaning everything.. always! I’m definitely more lenient now, but I still want to be sure I’m aware of the products being used around the house. I recently discovered Seventh Generation‘s line of cleaning products, and love that their ingredients are all natural! I’m sure you’ve all tried (like I have MANY times) all those Pinterest ideas for natural cleaning solutions. From the baking soda and vinegar down the drain, to lemons for everything! Luckily with Seventh Generation, they’ve taken all the trial and error out of the way, and have created some amazing products!
Established in 1988, in Vermont, Seventh Generation is one of the nation’s leading brands of household, baby, lifestyle and personal care products. The company lives its commitment to “caring today for seven generations of tomorrows,” by creating revolutionary product solutions that build new ways of caring for ourselves and the world around us.
Their products are much safer than your usual cleaning products – their aim is to protect the environment and our health with their eco-friendly products for the next seven generations. That’s up to 400 years!!
Your usual cleaning products are full of dangerous chemicals. If you turn the bottles around, you’ll see bright orange warning signs on them saying unsafe for aquatic life, flammable, toxic and more. That’s why it’s so important to keep it all locked up in something like a Storemasta Chemical cabinet so that it’s out of reach of children. The cupboard under the sink just won’t cut it for most cleaning products – think bleach, drain unblocker, paint remover and all of those other nasties that not even an adult should be touching.
Seventh Generation, on the other hand, is made with plant-based, chlorine-free, biodegradable ingredients. You still shouldn’t drink it, obviously, but it’s not going to be as harmful if you get it on your skin or it leaks into the environment. Their new line of disinfecting cleaners are Health Canada registered and are effective against Influenza A (common flu) virus as well as salmonella choleraesuis, staphylococcus aureus and escherichia (E) coli bacteria. Uhm, pardon? Ya, that’s awesome!! Having a lil one that recently started full-day school, I know all too well just how many germs he’s bringing home.
“As a Holistic Nutritionist and strong advocate for clean living, I always recommend using natural products around the home and workplace. Why? Well, I believe in doing everything possible in your life to lighten the toxic load on your body. There’s enough crap already floating in the air you’re breathing in or in the water you’re drinking. Many people also have allergies or sensitivities to chemicals. By reducing the amount of exposure, you will notice a huge difference in your overall health without needing to sacrifice the functionality of the cleaning products, which is ultimately to kill off any potential pathogens. OH and let’s not forget the health of those around you AND this beautiful planet. Hi, I like living here, do you? I bet Bambi does too. Just think of poor baby Bambi (yeah, I went there).”
I absolutely love what this company stands for. Having a family makes you think about not just you, or even your kids, but your kids’ kids. It may not feel like you’re changing the world by switching products, but you’re definitely making a difference for your family, and that’s your world!
