If you checked out my Holiday Gift Guide this year, you would’ve noticed the most current LeapFrog tablet, the LeapPad Ultra XDi! Lyric was fortunate enough to get the original LeapPad1 for his 2nd birthday, and we LOVED it! It was immediately easy to use, even for my fresh 2 year old, as well as durable! As the saying goes.. it gets better with time, and this is so true when it comes to the latest release from LeapFrog!
Incorporating some of the latest technologies with the tried and true has allowed Leapfrog to be the leader in educational entertainment for children. This newest LeapPad boasts a 7″ screen that helps with learning to write using the stylus, as well as a breakthrough kid-safe web browser LeapSearch™, created in partnership with Zui™, a leading children’s browser developer. LeapSearch is kid-ready right out of the box and delivers a quality internet browsing experience that parents can trust.
With the EXTENSIVE library of apps and games, there is something out there to please every child, and have every parent smiling and nodding in agreement! One of the things I look for most in the toys I get for Lyric, especially where technology is involved, is something where he isn’t just sitting and watching. I want a toy that is interactive, makes him think and has him learning without him knowing it! I have no doubt that Mr. Pencil taught him how to write his first letters, and I’m A-OK with that! I tend to be a perfectionist when it comes to things like that and I don’t think I was making it fun, so I pulled back. Wanting him to see learning is enjoyable, rather than a “chore”. Well, he LOVED and still loves playing with Mr. Pencil and practicing his letters!
The feature I love most about the LeapPad? It’s portability! Now.. I know what you’re thinking, and yes, I definitely could have (and have done in the past) made a fun grocery store scavenger hunt, but let’s be serious, I’m not always in the mood, and neither is he! Sometimes I just need to get the groceries done, or whatever errand it is, and I don’t necessarily want a little voice calling, “Mama! Can I ride the Mickey train?” “Mama! Did you bring me a snack?” “Mama! Mama! Did you see that man? He looks like Santa!” etc. etc…. With LeapPad Ultra’s 9+ hours of uninterrupted play with a rechargeable battery, AC adapter and 8GB storage for photos and apps, you’ll be able to get the job done and not have 3 extra grey hairs on your head from turning to see your lil one about to jump out of the cart trying to reach the apples!
I’m currently in Toronto visiting family for the Christmas holidays, and I can tell you, getting here was a whole lot easier thanks to his LeapPad! I loooved hearing him counting syllables and singing along to his Wiggles mp3s (although the latter is more enjoyable when you can actually hear the music and he’s not just singing at the top of his lungs with his headphones on! heheh). “For nearly two decades, parents have trusted the LeapFrog name to provide their children with the best educational entertainment solutions, and LeapPad Ultra is a prime example of how we deliver life-changing experiences through innovative technologies,” said John Barbour, chief executive officer at LeapFrog. “Our learning library spans the important subject areas of math, reading, science and social studies in addition to helping children learn about art, physics, collaborative play and more, and features some of the most popular children’s characters.”
