Had you told me five years ago when I started the blog that I would be sitting down at my office in Toronto, with nine amazing staff around the world, that I would be excited for the month of January I would have probably laughed in your face. Having grown up in Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto – I am very well aware of what a Canadian winter can be like. But today I wanted to really focus on all the amazing and positive things I am taking with me into the new year and why I am really doing every in my power to put my best foot forward this winter and all year long.
With my wardrobe evolving as I continue to do the same, I needed to realize that wearing sneakers all year round might not be the best option going into the winter months. Yes, I was one of those people for a very long time. Maybe it was just my incessant stubbornness to accept the change of the seasons, 2019 is the year that I make sure I am wearing the best. No more slushy socks and frozen toes for this man!
Over the holiday season I was lucky enough to be gifted lots of beautiful clothing – and footwear. And it is thanks to my friends at ECCO that I am sporting some of the most comfortable shoes and boots I have ever worn.
Now, it’s no surprise that I post a LOT of photos. It’s part of the job – and it’s fun to share exciting things on social media. Looking back (I’ll try to only share a few examples below) I realized that my ECCO white leather shoes became a staple in my wardrobe in 2018. Not only because I loved the ways they fit, but the durability and comfort of them was bar none some of the best in my arsenal of fashionable footwear at home. Considering how much I run around the city to events and meetings, I can wear through my shoes pretty quickly – and these kept up with me, which I still amazed at. While they do need a good cleaning, I know that I can still throw them on when the weather warms up and be comfortable. Which, at the end of the day for someone like me, is more important than anything.
So when the winter began here in Toronto (a questionable statement today with the unseasonal warmth, but it’s coming I’m sure) I knew that I wanted to continue to be comfortable. Luckily, my friends at ECCO very generously provided me with some of the best winter boots I have EVER worn. And after a few weeks of wearing them (and being complimented regularly) I wanted to share a bit more about them with you.
ECCO shoes and accessories are made from some of the best craftsmanship in the industry. Over the years we have been lucky enough to watch as the brand evolved into it’s latest iteration which speaks to it’s heritage and their style that (in my opinion) speaks to Canadian consumers. I want a boot that doesn’t make me look like a six year old on the snow hill – a cute look in my twenties maybe, but one that doesn’t speak to a thirty-five year old CEO. Thankfully for those of you still looking for boots ECCO has some pretty spectacular options. Boys, take note. There’s no excuse for bad boots and fashion choices anymore this season! (Also, now that I’m on the ECCO shoes website I’m realizing how many more pairs I want to get myself. AND THIS BAG IS STUNNING!)
Now I must admit I owe my shoe fetish to the best in the business – teaching me to appreciate quality, craftsmanship and beauty in a whole new light. So when I want to look my best (The ECCO Chelsea boot, in my opinion, is the best I have ever worn and I desperately need a new pair this year) in 2019 you can almost guarantee I’ll be reaching for a pair of ECCO shoes. I hope that this season you realize it’s time to invest in yourself as much as you invest in others and put your best foot forward literally and metaphorically.
