For those of you who follow along with me on social media, you’ll have seen that I recently took a trip to Mississauga where I immersed myself in the outdoor experiences, local cuisine and vibrant culture this city has to offer. Missed it? Check out the blog post here and my fabulous recap here.
With Easter and Mother’s Day around the corner, I decided to take a second trip this weekend with Mama Sue and here’s everything we’re going to be getting up to in case you feel like doing the same!
In partnership with Visit Mississauga, I have lucky enough to enjoy some food and experiences that you can only find in Mississauga. But I barely scratched the surface!
Tomorrow we will take a drive from Ottawa to Mississauga, and will be checking in to The Glenerin Inn & Spa. The inn “creates a memorable experience for its guests in the grandeur of its history and heritage and by providing a distinctive level of hospitality from its caring and gracious staff. A place to relax and recharge, the casual elegance of the Inn is here for guests to celebrate all the precious moments in life with family and friends.”
Once settled and rested, we’ll have a busy weekend exploring some local attractions and experiences, including:
Breakfast at Skyway Jack’s, a bustling family-run establishment with a retro vibe and long standing history that has been serving hearty breakfast for over 50 years in Streetsville. Once we’re satiated, it’ll be off to enjoy the outdoors at Riverwood Conservancy – an oasis of woodlands, meadows, ravines, and gardens that spans 150 acres alongside the Credit River in Mississauga.
Once we’ve gotten some steps in, we’ll want to rest and I know that an activity involving creativity is always a good idea. Not only for a trip with Mama Sue, a visit to Crock-a-Doodle for an in-studio pottery painting class is such a cute date night idea!
As we all know, it’s not a trip with me if I’m not bringing you along to delicious destinations. I have heard such incredible things about Chop Steakhouse so I’m very excited for lunch with Mama Sue there.
“The culmination of more than seventeen years of experience serving our communities, Chop offers handcrafted cuisine, signature cocktails, and enlightened hospitality. Enjoyed by guests at 17 locations across Canada. Executive Chef Stephen Clark delivers culinary adventures crafted with curiosity, experimentation, and a commitment to the craft of dining.”
Refueled and ready for more, I’ll take us to Spa House for a well earned massage. I know that mom swears by physiotherapy and always encourages me to take some me time (which I am not very good at doing if I’m being honest). Spa at the Club Spa is where I’ll let myself turn off for a 45 minute massage and hopefully slow down for just a moment. With a “range of services that address stress, injury and the need for self care. Through their casual yet refined approach, they aim to create a space where clients can unwind, rediscover themselves and leave with a feeling of renewal.”
Sounds perfect right about now, wouldn’t you say?
Following that I’m so excited to take mom to The Tea Room, housed which is housed within the historic Robinson-Bray House, has been a fixture in Streetsville since its opening in 1989. To be honest I don’t think I’ve ever taken mom to something like this and she deserves to feel the elegance of a high tea experience for all her help and what she does.
Following this lovely afternoon, it will be time to head back to the hotel to change and rest.
If you know me, you’ll know that I love pizza. So dinner at Good Fellas Wood Oven Pizza was a must while visiting Mississauga! One review online really sold it when I was looking at restaurants in the area.
“More than just a pizza, Goodfellas is an exceptional food experience to be shared with family or friends. Whether it’s a quick lunch or an evening out, Goodfellas will romance you with our exclusive Italian wines and dishes that made southern Italy infamous!”
After a good night’s sleep, we will wake up on Sunday for adventures and experiences that even I haven’t had before!
To start off the day, it’ll be off to Square One (obviously) for breakfast at MADO, an authentic Turkish restaurant serving up enormous breakfasts, appetizing lunches and exquisite dinners. From what I hear from food lovers, Mado is the place of extraordinary tastes!
Belly full and ready for some fun, we will head to Jurassic World Exhibition – the closest you’ll ever come to living dinosaurs! The Exhibition immerses audiences in interactive scenes inspired by the beloved film.
If that’s not amazing enough, we’re also heading to MiMuseum, Mississauga’s amazing immersive illusionary experience. “Get ready to embark on a mind-bending journey where reality and perception are put to the test like never before.”
I’m sure after all the excitement we’ll be ready for some food and to grab a seat – and this time on our visit to the city, I knew we had to visit MISHREE Cocktails & Cuisine. I had to miss the media event celebrating the grand opening recently, so I am so excited to finally get to experience it for myself! “A luxury, multi-sensory culinary experience, inspired by nature — for all to enjoy”
On our Sunday afternoon we will head to do a little bit of shopping at Erin Mills Town Centre – the second largest mall in Mississauga after Square One, with 185 stores to enjoy and explore. I could use a new pair of sneakers and some jeans, so maybe I’ll find some on our beautiful weekend.
Following that it’s off to Cineplex Junxion, a dynamic all-in-one entertainment spot for datenights or family fun which is newly opened in Erin Mills town centre. Fun for all ages and brand new to the area, I have no doubt we’ll have a blast exploring!
Finishing off the weekend, we will stop in at El Mariachi Tacos & Churros for dinner. If you have been following me for some time, you’ll know that I LOVE Mexican cuisine so this sounds right up my alley.
“Our food will attract both the casual lover of Mexican food and taco aficionados as well. We hope to become a hot spot in the booming Streetsville community. Our goal is to bring new life and diverse culture to our growing downtown core.”
All in all this will be another spectacular visit to Mississauga where memories are waiting to be made over delicious food, one of a kind experiences, beautiful hotels and scenery that can soothe the soul. I can’t wait!
I hope you enjoyed reading and that if you’re not already, follow me on all platforms at @dothedaniel as I share in real time these adventures and more!
