From Paw Patrol to the perfect holiday gift ideas

With my way to my 40th birthday on October 17th, I like to think that age is just a number – though I am making some extra groans and noises when I get out of bed these days! All that aside, I have always been a big kid at heart and have loved being married to an equally playful and incredible human being. We LOVE anything Pokemon, Nintendo, LEGO, Barbie and so much more. It’s why I am so excited that Toys”R”Us Canada is opening a BRAND NEW location right here in Ottawa just in time for the fall and upcoming holiday season, and I wanted to share the opening weekend festivities with you all so you can join us there!

I guess I should elaborate a bit more on the kids at heart mention above. At almost 40 and married to an incredible 35 year old, we still buy Barbies on the regular, keep up to date with the latest Nintendo of Canada gaming systems and games, LEGO kits for us and our niece & nephew, and don’t even get me started on the Transformers toy budget Julio has! These things have brought us countless hours of joy and memories, and there’s nothing quite like going to a Toys”R”Us Canada with the kids and letting them each pick out one toy on a rainy day or for a special occasion.

Toys”R”Us Canada has been a brand that has grown and evolved with me over the years and if I start singing the jingle I grew up with, I have no doubt my fellow geriatric millennials (I still despise that term! 😂) will feel the same sense of comfort and nostalgia that only this brand can evoke.

Nowadays it’s the destination for the hottest new Paw Patrol movie toys, Nintendo consoles and games, and of course all things Barbie.

But let’s get back to the excitement of this weekend’s grand opening in Barrhaven, Ottawa!

Toys”R”Us and Babies”R”Us are celebrating the grand opening of their NEW store at the Barrhaven Town Centre this weekend Oct 14 & 15th, with the official ribbon cutting taking place on October 14th just before the store opens – Julio & I will be there!

The grand opening weekend will be filled with activities and fun for the family including giveaways, mini & me portrait photo sessions, visits from favourite characters, balloon art, amazing offers, and more!

Grand Opening Dates:

Saturday, October 14th + Sunday, October 15th (ribbon cutting at 9:30 AM on Saturday)
Time: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Location: Barrhaven Town Centre, 3777 Strandherd Drive, Barrhaven, ON K2J 4B1

Character Meet & Greet Schedule:
Saturday, October 14: Lady Bug & Cat Noir from Miraculous from 11:00am – 2:00pm
Sunday, October 15: Elmo & Cookie Monster from 11:00am – 2:00pm

The new store offers an interactive experience for its customers beyond shopping; fun weekend activities, toy demos, awesome deals, favourite character meet & greets, and more – lending the store to be a destination for families, kids and even kidults, for all things play!

But that’s not all for those kids, “kidults” and fans of Toys”R”Us and Babies”R”Us! The iconic brand is opening new stores from coast to coast for us all to enjoy, and as mentioned for people like Tio Julio & Tio Dan (what our niece and nephew call us, which means Uncle in Spanish) it’s just in time for us to start our holiday shopping for the hottest toys as early as we can.
