Travel & Lifestyle | Day 6 of our #HelloExperience

I have been dreading posting Day 6 because it means that our week had come to an end. Though now back in Canada and well into another busy summer with the team, I miss Mexico so much! For those of you who have traveled to Mexico, you’ll for sure understand what I mean. As you would have seen last week, @Fashionights & @DoTheDaniel were sharing our #HelloExperience with Booking Hello and Catalonia Hotels & Resorts.  After a busy Day 5 in Cancun and Playa del Carmen, our last full day in Riviera Maya was one I will never forget.

We woke up at our own pace after a late night out partying (see Day 5 to see what I mean). You get to be very grateful for the big comfortable beds available at Catalonia Hotels & Resorts after late nights. With some much needed coffee and sending out a few emails (we had to do this, but I would hope you all can leave the inbox back here in Canada) we set out to enjoy some sun. The morning of Day 6’s toughest decision was whether to hit the beach or the pool! So… in typical Libra decision making, I chose both.

Packing out TOMS bag with towels, sunscreen and a few snacks we enjoyed what seemed to be the perfect day in Mexico. Thank you again to TOMS Canada for this beautiful bag (seen above) and shoes for us to stay stylish while making a difference. The perfect bag for outdoor adventure and travelling the world with me. And Julio pointed out that it will also “age beautifully”… whatever that means. Convenient pockets, durable construction and beautiful too. I’m already shopping for my next bag as I write this post! Tag @TOMS on social media and use the #TOMSbags and #TOMSCanada hashtags to join in on the social media conversation around this social mouvement.

“TOMS Bags purchases support our Giving Partners in delivering the vital materials and training needed to help provide a safe birth regardless of the facility.” To check out the beautiful #TOMSCanada bags available for your next #HelloExperience, click here.

After a day in the sun, we headed back to our room to shower and prepare for our final night in Mexico. I was already getting emotional about having to leave this beautiful destination and all the amazing #HelloExperience moments we had gotten to enjoy. Our first time to the area but certainly not our last!

We picked up some souvenirs for our family and friends, some Mexican Amber rings for both of us (Mexico is known for its Amber and Silver. and I’m in love with our rings. It’s like we get to carry a piece of these memories with us for the rest of our lives) we headed to dinner at Chef Enrique Olvera’s Maíz de Mar. Located under the beautiful Cacao Hotel we visited previously in the week, this “Taco Bar” is one of the latest hotspots in Playa del Carmen.

“Local products, the highest-quality ingredients, all focused on flavor and freshness. Maíz de Mar is a relaxed venue that takes inspiration from the popular cooking of Mexico’s coasts.”

Tacos and local dishes with a modern twist were accompanied by beautiful cocktails. We sipped the summer night away laughing. What I was most proud of myself for was that by the end of the week, I was able to understand when Julio and our new friends spoke to one another in Spanish. A fun fact most people may not know about me is that I have always wanted to learn how to speak Spanish and this trip certainly helped to rekindle my desire to make it happen.

After what was probably the most relaxing day of the whole week we headed back to Catalonia Royal Tulum one last time for a good night’s rest. In the morning we joined fellow media for a final #HelloExperience goodbye brunch and were off to the airport in the transfer (aka taxi) organized by HELLO. From start to finish, this has been one of my favourite curated travel experiences. The team at HELLO were able to show us first hand the experience they can help to create for you and we hope you enjoyed coming along with us!

Thank you again to the entire HELLO team for their dedication to the travel industry and for showing us that there is only one chance for Canadians when it comes to affordable, customizable travel.
