The holidays are my favourite time of year. From family visits to buying the perfect gift, it is the opportunity to show the ones you love how much you care. I recently had the pleasure of visiting SickKids alongside Gracie Carroll and friends to tour the hospital and learn about the #GetBetterGifts holiday gifts. The fact remains that approximately 300 young patients will have to stay at the hospital over the holidays. This year, the best gify you can give to your friends & family could also help to make the holidays better for them. Come and see how you can change the lives of these children and amazing cause with us over the next few weeks.
This morning I was honoured to get a BTS tour of @sickkidstoronto as a #GetBetterGifts ambassador for the holidays to learn about the incredible difference the hospital makes 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This year, many of the gifts available for purchase through the program are also matched, so it is easy to find a gift that will have twice the impact on children’s lives at SickKids. I cannot encourage you enough to purchase some of, if not all of, your gifts while also making a real impact on the approximate 300 young patients who have to stay at the hospital over the holidays. Please head to www.getbettergifts.ca to learn more and stay tuned as I share details on the blog this week. ??❤
Feeling emotional and grateful to be at @sickkids hospital today to get a behind the scene tour to learn about how the hospital operates and meet the people behind the scenes who help the kids daily. Sadly, each year, approximately 300 kids stay at the hospital over the holidays. A great way to give these kids back some of the holiday spark at the hospital is the #GetBetterGifts. From arts and crafts, to holiday cookie decorating to video games, you can help make a big difference in their lives.
As I toured SickKids and got a chance to meet families of children who have had to spend the holidays in the hospital, I can admit that I got pretty emotional. I can’t even imagine what that feels like and learning about all the incredible gifts that I can purchase online that also go directly to the patients made me realize I can make a real difference this year. I’m sure by now you’ve seen the incredibly powerful
#SickKidsVS campaign that has also launched.
So what is #GetBetterGifts all about and why I am so passionate about it? “They are Gifts That Give Back. SickKids Get Better Gifts are truly heartfelt gifts you can give to the special people in your life, while also making a life-changing impact on the children at SickKids. Perfect for any occasion, all gifts come with a FREE greeting card that includes a personalized message from you, along with how the gift has helped the children at SickKids. These inspiring gifts can be delivered instantly, or on that special occasion. Learn more about how your Get Better Gift Helps.”
Starting as low as $12, there are so many incredible options. From Arts & Crafts supplies for $12 to Holiday Baking & Supplies for $20, Teen Movie Night for $25 to Videogames & Controllers for $36, there are gifts for all kinds of occasions for young children all the way to teenagers. A lot of people don’t realize that patients can be aged all the way to 17 years old, so when choosing your gifts, keep that in mind.
When shopping you can choose what occasion you are shopping for – including holiday, teacher, corporate, last-minute and thank you categories. This year specific Get Better Gifts will make twice the impact thanks to Orinoco Foundation, who will generously match* your gift. Look for the matching gift tag throughout the website. Not sure what to choose? Gift Certificates are also available!
Gracie & I were so moved by the gifts and the benefits they offer that we are even hosting a charity sale where all proceeds will be donated to SickKids.
