By now you’re coming to understand that December is a month that I take the time to look back and be grateful for the lessons the year has taught me. Some of them easier than others, but that’s life sometimes. As I get ready for an amazing 2019 with the #DoTheDaniel team which continues to grow around the world, I am acknowledging that 2018 was the year I remembered to take care of myself again.
From the changes that have taken place in my personal life, to the fitness journey I have taken one step at a time, 2018 has been one of the most transformative years of my life to date. While I don’t necessarily believe in glorifying the physicality of change – I will never talk about how much weight I’ve lost or a number on a scale because that isn’t what should be praised. That being said, I do need to acknowledge that I am not the same Daniel I was in January. Heck, I’m not the same Daniel I was two days ago if I’m being honest. I am a product of yesterday’s lessons while working towards the man I will be tomorrow.
The changes in my appearance are a reflection of the work I have been doing on my mental and emotional well being. One of the best lessons I have learned is that it is okay to pamper myself and do things that make me feel more like myself. I enjoy spending time with myself at a workout or in taking a visit to a beauty treatment that allows me to disconnect in order to reconnect with me.
One of these things is my visits to North Medical Spa here in Toronto for my BOTOX™ / XEOMIN™ treatments. As I have come to learn about my skin and the way it ages, specifically my face, these treatments (albeit small doses) have really helped me to feel refreshed. Considering my busy schedule, I like to think that it is just what I need to look in the mirror every day and smile at the man looking back. Because he deserves to feel his best and that is a culmination of taking care of myself in so many ways.
So why am I talking about this? Because despite sharing the visits I have had to North Medical Spa over the year, there still seems to be a stigma of sorts around the idea that I get treatments at all. While a few years ago I would have been on the “don’t do it” bandwagon, the fact remains that the world of medical spa treatments has evolved and become a welcome addition to my life. I am not ashamed about talking about it and what they have helped to add to my beauty regime it has offered. And don’t I deserve to feel like my best self? Funny enough, my inspiration coincides with their first annual NMS 7 Days of Giveaways which can allow you to experience that same feeling of self care!
Over the next few weeks before the hustle and bustle of the holidays really sets in, I am hoping to book myself in with the team at North Medical Spa for another touch up. Because we all know that the holidays can take their toll on our sleep and stress levels, and I deserve to look and feel my best in all the photos we love sharing with you!
