5 tips to capture your special moments

As someone who is always on their phone, I have come to appreciate the art of taking a good photo. Especially with the advancements in the world of mobile devices, it is easy to understand that you most likely want the best phone on the market in Canada. Insert Huawei Mobile Canada and our love for the P10 and P10 Plus (available exclusively on the Rogers network) as official ambassadors in Canada. Being that I am well versed in the world of dual Leica Camera on my Huawei P10 Plus, I thought I would share my top five tips to capture your very own special moments with Huawei. 1. The rule of thirds

This is a trick that I picked up from photographer friends of mine. An image is more aesthetically pleasing to the eye when it hit 3/4 vantage points on your camera grid. From the guide image below, you can see how it’s just a beautiful photo. Whether creating a “flatlay” or image of yourself, it is a good way to ensure that the image itself captures the sentiment you are going for (and will get those Insta likes!)

2. Brush up on camera settings for your phone

I think that continuous learning is an important part of life. And with the advancements of YouTube, I can google the best photo skills for Huawei Mobile devices (click here to see what I mean) while also using trial and error. Don’t be scared to try something now.

For example, portrait mode on the phone is a game changer! It’s the setting that was used for our official TIFF portraits and look at how amazing they came out!

  3. Understand that lighting is crucial

Now that you’re getting the swing of the abilities your phone has, understanding that lighting is important is crucial for the perfect phone. Natural light is always best, because over processed photos are so 2016. Using your camera on your Huawei mobile device, clicking on the screen and holding down allows you to focus on specific lighting options. You can adjust it up or down in real time, and this option allows you to customize your lighting in real time. I use this option on a daily basis!

4. Step out of your comfort zone

I say this with all due respect to you, but sometimes everyone can get locked in on taking the same kinds of photos. Using the dual Leica Cameras on my Huawei P10 Plus, I have been playing around with settings such as Monochrome, Night Shot & Watermark to create different kinds of photos. Both for myself and for the blog, the abilities of your camera are not limited to beautiful selfies and food shots. Try something new and you just might find a whole new way of expressing yourself.

5. Be patient

This is the most important part. I am a very impatient person and I expected myself to know the camera on this device in the first few days of having it in my hands. That is just not possible. Though it is designed to get me sharing from the moment I activated it, I also needed to take time to really understand the capabilities of the camera. I essentially have the capabilities of a DSLR in my phone, and I am not a professional photographer. So if you’re like me, take a deep breath. If that photo didn’t come out the way you wanted it to, that’s OK. If at first you don’t succeed, try try again. Practice makes perfect, I promise!

Of course I also turn to the experts for their tips, so take a look at this beautiful video Huawei created with Spidergirl!
