Health & Nutrition | Lolë Women | Well-being is a state of mind

Review by Catherine’s Cabinet

What does it mean to be a woman?  Well, we all have very different and personal answers to this question.  To me it means to be strong, nurturing, unconditionally loving and sexy as all heck!  We are each blessed with different body shapes and sizes, all feminine in their own distinct and beautiful way.

Anyone who knows me will attest to the fact that I love wearing dresses.  I have this inner pin up girl who is always seeking satiety in the form of pearls, heels and curve-enhancing apparel.  Being able to do this is my prerogative as a woman.  Not wanting to do this is also my prerogative.  But I have to be honest, I’m more comfortable in a dress than in sweatpants… and that’s okay because that’s just who I am, so I embrace it fully.

We all have the innate desire to better ourselves.  For some people it may be working more on the inside than the out and others may be vice versa.  Whatever floats your boat, just own it, embrace it and rock it.  I’m a mix of both.  I admit that I like to look good (even if it doesn’t always work).  But one of the ways that I like to work on myself from the inside out is to get my body moving.  Exercise in any form is always beneficial.

With that said, why not look good while doing it?  I’m a lot more motivated to exercise when I feel great about what I’m wearing, how it fits me and what it’s doing to benefit my body while I’m working it.  There are so many clothing apparel brands out there geared towards creating the best fitness gear.  One of my personal favourites is Lolë Women.  I was fortunate enough to be able to take a sneak peak at their Fall/Winter 2014 collection alongside Lolë Design Director, Andy Thê-Anh.

Founded in Montreal in 2002,  Lolë built their philosophies and developed their apparel based on the importance of well-being.  They believe in creating harmony and balance within yourself and with the people around you while enjoying a passionately-lived life and staying true to yourself.  This really resonates with me as a woman.  We are like shape shifters, taking on numerous roles while trying to remain true to who we are.  The many roles Lolë Women take on are fitness/well-being apparel,  urban clothing, swimwear, outdoors and accessories.

Lolë isn’t just a clothing brand, they’re a way of life.  They’re constantly encouraging women to get moving for the pleasure of feeling good while sharing experiences throughout their community.  “It’s that spark that lights up your face after a yoga session in the sun, a walk in the park or a good laugh between friends”.  They develop their products based on functionality, versatility, femininity, love of nature and comfort.  These are all motivators in helping us to get out there and do what we love to stay healthy!

In order to perpetuate inspiration, Lolë has created an App called LolëPop.  The idea is to link active women together all across the world while allowing them to share photos, stories and moments with each other.  This will not only keep us connected but will also strengthen the support we all need to continue down our path of a healthy lifestyle.

So, I will leave you with a quote from Lolë that helps to describe what it means to be a woman in this world.  “A woman in harmony with herself radiates with her well-being and her equilibrium.  She is a source of inspiration.  She lights up her life, your life, her world and her environment”.
