Walking in a Winterlude Wonderland with CIBC

A lot of people don’t realize that although I have made Toronto my home with Julio, and HQ for all things #DoTheDaniel, I have in fact lived in several major Canadian cities in my lifetime. We moved a lot when I was younger because we followed the opportunities that my parents had in their careers. Though it wasn’t always easy, I like to think that it also gave me my sense of adventure while seeing what it meant to grow up Canadian in both Ontario & Québec. While I lived in Ottawa with my parents, I used to look forward to Winterlude every year. From skating on the Rideau Canal, ice sculpture carvings that awe & amaze, to the ample amounts of Beavertails that I used to justify as winter sustenance… it was an exciting time in Ottawa for residents and visitors alike. On Saturday, February 18 (From 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.) you’re going to want to head to the Rideau Canal Skateway for CIBC’s Shinny Hockey Day!

You’ll have noticed that we have been sharing some exciting moments taking place this year alongside #Canada150 celebrations in partnership with CIBC (click here to see more). Winterlude is of course iconically Canadian, so it only makes sense that CIBC would create amazing experiences for us all to enjoy. Whether it’s the Instagramable #StandForCanada Ice Sculpture, or Shinny Hockey Day, there is something for everyone to enjoy as you immerse yourself in one of the first of MANY events to celebrate what it means to be Canadian with Canada’s bank.

I can’t divulge too much about Shinny Hockey Day presented by CIBC just yet, but I can assure you that it will entail something that has NEVER been done before. If you are in Ottawa for Winterlude that weekend, make sure to grab a hot chocolate or Starbucks Canada, a beavertail, and make your way down to enjoy an incredible experience. I wish I could be there to see it myself, but you’ll be seeing a lot more of me soon in Ottawa. I promise!
