Food & Wine | Cheers to #ValentinesDay

What a busy couple of weeks! 2016 has been an amazing year so far and if you’re like me, you’re looking forward to a romantic weekend with the ones you love – be they partners, friends or family. I’m excited to turn off for a few days and unwind with Julio. The key to that romantic and relaxing feeling is the perfect setting, including a delicious drink or two. Come and see some of our favourites and what we’ll be sipping on.

One of the things I love most about Julio is his passion for a good drink. Similar to my love of food & travel, he is always on the lookout for something delicious and satisfying. This Valentine’s Day, here are a few of the things you can impress those you love with by sharing it with them.

JPWisers-Hopped-750mL

J.P. Wiser’s Hopped Whisky is a perfect option to sip by the fireplace on a cold winter’s night. And it may light another kind of fire if romance is what you’re looking for.

“This full-flavoured Canadian whisky offers a rich aroma with a body that is complex and perfectly balanced. It is an exceptional blend of oak, toasted grains and rich toffee, with a finish that is smooth and enduring.”

Stoneleigh_Riesling

Stoneleigh Marlborough Riesling is a crowd pleaser and a great option for dinner with the girls. Just because you’re single on Valentine’s Day doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have a blast and this wine is seductive in all the right ways.

“A full-bodied, crisp white wine that displays lifted passion fruit and grapefruit aromas, with overlaying mineral notes and a ripe fruit intensity. Enjoy slightly chilled on its own or with delicate white meat and seafood dishes.”

Etchart_RDP_Cabernet_Sauvignon

Etchart Rio de Plata’s Cabernet Sauvignon is red wine that will leave you smiling – but I’ve always been a sucker for a good Latino. Argentinian wine is romantic, full bodied and to be perfectly honest, really sexy.

“Intense aromas of plum, raisin and ripe blackcurrant, with sweet spice, coffee and cacao notes. On the palate, silky and ripe tannins support full fruit flavours. A great partner for red meats and an interesting match for Grana Padano cheese and goat cheese.”

These options are just a few ways to cheers to Valentine’s Day and I can assure you that they are a great way to set the mood this year.
